It is winter in the gnome forest. Plop, Klus, Kwebbel and Lui bring a letter to gnome Pruts and arrive in a wonderful laboratory. There they stumble upon an extraordinary invention; a traveling machine. When Pruts has to leave unexpectedly, Klus and Kwebbel try to secretly bring Snorre from the South Pole to them. But the machine doesn't work as it should. Hopefully this will all end well!

Admiral Frank Beardsley returns to New London to run the Coast Guard Academy, his last stop before a probable promotion to head the Guard. Helen and Frank, high school sweethearts, reconnect at a reunion, and it's love at first re-sighting. They marry on the spot.
