The Circus
Charlie, a wandering tramp, becomes a circus handyman - soon the star of the show - and falls in love with the circus owner's stepdaughter.
Six burglars separately break into the Vickers mansion on Long Island to loot the safe but catch each other in the act. They all pretend to be members of the household when locked in by a well meaning police officer.

To enter, the judge had to ask for help from an operator to remove the grate from the small window that faces the street. The door of the flat has two locks and a chain placed inside. Whoever committed the crime could not get out of there or out of the window, since it was embedded in the wall.

After acting in the diptych of Thomas Graal, Sjöström shows that he also dominates the “light genre” as director.
