The Mute
Engineer Ahmed indirectly causes the death of his colleague Hossam, and suffers from a neurological trauma that causes him to be mute. He gets to know Aida, who admires him, so they plan to get married despite her father's objections.

Once they arrive in Ellis Island they spend the quarantine period trying to pass the examinations to be admitted to the States. Tests are not so simple for poor farmers coming from Sicily. Their destiny is in the hands of the custom officers.
